In Which We All Have Needs

I haven't spoken much about the dieting side of my personal wellness goals. I've been focusing more on making my diet well rounded rather than cutting from my diet, although there has been some of that too. To help keep myself to something that reduces my calories but also sees to my body's needs I follow these rules:
I can have two "reasonable meals" in a day (by this I mean a filling meal). Ideally they incorporate vegetables where possible. (I've been a fan of cabbage)
The third meal must be primarily made up of fruits and vegetables
Outside of meals, I can eat whenever I want to, but it must be vegetables or fruits, raw where reasonable. (ex. applesauce not ok, but raisins are fine)
I may only drink water as a beverage. Milk has to go with something, like cereal.
No eating out unless with company.
Those are the rules I've been following, and so far it's been going great. I didn't want to do anything too crazy because I want this to be something sustainable. We have needs, and ignoring some of them for a time can cause problems. That doesn't just apply to the physical; as human beings, we have emotional needs, spiritual needs, mental needs, and others. I've ignored these sides of myself for so long. I hope that by reintroducing some of these aspects of myself back into my life I'll be happier. It has been such a joy to read again. Playing instruments again does a surprising amount of good for my emotional state. I'm bouncing around a lot tonight, but the point here is that many aspects of your personal life can affect the physical side of it.
I apologize for the decreased quality of the posts for the last couple of days. When I get into a bit of a depressive funk like this it usually hangs around for at least a few days, but I should be able to commit more energy to this soon. It's bizarre to observe myself during these emotional troughs- I have to sleep more, my appetite drops, and my drive to go do things dwindles to nothing. We'll make it out the other end. I have you guys to thank for that. This blog has been so helpful in pulling me through this. We're below 232 as of this morning, I'm hoping to break 230 by the end of the week, although that might be optimistic. Who knows!
