In Which I Have No Time To Say Hello, Goodbye!

I will happily take a busy day over a boring one. Unfortunately, I've been doing that rather often of late and have found myself without a moment to sit down at my desk and write. So instead I'm bringing my laptop along and writing at this lovely bridge featured on today's post. I won't have much time to write today, but I'll make the most of what I've got.

I've finished setting up my membership at the gym nearby, but I have yet to visit it. For reasons which I have yet to parse, I have a much harder time going to the gym alone versus going out to the park alone. I've been unsuccessful so far in dragging my sister along. I could attempt to hide it behind the guise of trying to help my sister out, but I am both honest and selfish, and must admit that I invite her entirely for my own comfort. I'm not sure why I find it so much more difficult (lounge chair psychologists, feel free to have a go), and I don't have the time at the moment to try and pick it apart. At some point, though, I'll be able to convince my human crutch to come along and we can have a grand old time on the planet Fitness.

I found a new park to walk at, it's a shame I can't remember the name at the moment. It's fun to find new places to explore. My sister introduced me to another park earlier this week called Shank Park. At least, I believe it was Shank. I just remember that it immediately reminded me of the character Shang from Mulan, and I've been unable to get the connection out of my head since. So, Shang/Shank park. I got to see another side to my sister too, which was lovely. It's a park she frequents, and she told me all about the history of the trees there, the stories behind different areas we walked through, and the identification of various plant life. I feel like I learn more meaningful things about the people I care about when I genuinely explore things dear to them. My youngest sister's fiancee had been trying to get me to listen to his favorite music artist for months, and I finally sat down and listened to them (Jacob Collier is the name, by the way). My sister's fiancee likes to joke around and my initial impression of him had been that he likes to clown around. Listening to what he considered his favorite music made me realize there is a side to him that is serious, introspective, mature, all while still maintaining his playful, semi-chaotic nature. I've gained a new respect for him that I should have always afforded him. I'm glad my sister chose someone like him.

It's wonderful what you can learn about someone by diving into their interests.

I very much agree with the joy and utility of sincerely getting to know someone through their interests. It is always great to read these posts because they do exactly that. And they always feel genuine. As a side not, when I read semi-chaotic of course my mind read it as chaotic neutral. Chaos brings great fun.
