Let's go exploring!
The picture for today's blog was taken a couple miles from my home. I wish I hadn't spent the last few years missing out on all the things out there to see and explore. Nothing to be done about that, though; I can only choose to take full advantage of it in the years to come. The title for today comes from a Calvin and Hobbes comic I was reminded of while discovering all this natural beauty effectively outside my front door. I don't have the rights to publish it, but you can see it here. I felt many of the same emotions today as are expressed in that strip. We truly live in a magical world, and any day has the potential to be part of a fresh, clean start.
I did my walking today on the Neuse Rive Trail that I checked out last night. It is glorious; I hope I can convince my sister to go. She would simultaneously love and hate it as the area is lovely but the path is paved. I understand, though- they want to make it accessible to bikers. Honestly, if it wasn't paved, it would probably be a swampy mess. I hope the trail stays for many years, and I hope more come to discover and appreciate it. I think people (myself included) would be more involved in the community if they spent time in it. The more layers of distance people have, the more apathetic they are. The more you peel away those levels of removal, the more empathetic people become. Perhaps the populace would be more involved in the future of the world if they were more a part of it.
As a side note, abs are just the worst. I'm loving how much better I'm already feeling, but I must admit that particular pill does not feel good to swallow. Still, progress continues to be made! My legs are adjusting very quickly, but my gut is taking its time. I currently look like a marshmallow on stilts, but that'll get better with time.
Week two, let's go- woohoo!
